About Me
Mother of three, certified doula, lactation and babywearing consultant, Access Bars practitioner and co-organiser of All Mamas Retreats — your guide to a respectful and empowering birth experience
Hi, I'm Betka
I studied social pedagogy at Charles University, but I never pursued it professionally. My path began to take shape differently — with my own children.
Each of them came into the world in a different way, and it was precisely this diversity that gradually awakened in me a fascination and admiration for how strong, wise, and unique the female body is. Already during my first pregnancy, the world of birth began opening up to me. Because of my baby's breech position, the hospital immediately started looking for a C-section date. But something didn't feel right. I called a different hospital and ended up giving birth vaginally there.
I gave birth to my second child at home with a midwife. In between, I also went through the experience of an early miscarriage, which quietly shaped my understanding of motherhood and the fragility of life. My third child was born at home in New Zealand, attended by two midwives, where this option is a common and systemically supported part of care.
These experiences gradually shaped me and led me to where I am today — guiding women on their own journey to birth and motherhood. As a certified birth doula and member of the Czech Doula Association since 2021, I've had the honour of accompanying over one hundred women. I'm also a lactation and babywearing consultant, so my support doesn't end when your baby is born — I'm with you during the sensitive postpartum period too.
Whether your birth takes place in a hospital or at home, my role remains the same: to create a calm, safe, and supportive space where you can feel confident and cared for.
Together with midwife Natálie Sedlická and lactation consultant Julie Slocombe, I co-create the All Mamas Retreats — prenatal weekends in nature where women slow down, share, attune to themselves and their approaching motherhood, and prepare for birth. Because when a child is born, it's not just a baby that's born. A mother and a new family are born too.
My Birth Journey
My first birth — a hospital in the Czech Republic
My first daughter was breech, and her arrival was long, heavily medicalised, and in many ways overwhelming. I felt swept along by protocols I didn't fully understand at the time. It was a challenging experience, but it taught me an enormous amount about how the medical system approaches birth — and it planted the first seeds of a question I couldn't shake: does it have to be this way?
My second birth — a homebirth in Prague
Everything was different the second time. I chose an assisted homebirth in Prague, and the experience was short, intimate, and deeply empowering. For the first time, I felt what it means to truly trust my body. That birth opened my eyes to the quiet beauty of physiological birth — to what becomes possible when a woman feels safe, unhurried, and held.
My third birth — a homebirth in New Zealand
My third daughter was born at home in New Zealand, where homebirth is a standard, fully supported part of the maternity system. It was a revelation. I experienced firsthand what birth can look like when it's genuinely trusted — by the mother, by her caregivers, and by the system around her. That experience deepened everything I believe about birth and cemented my commitment to supporting women through this transformative passage.
My Birth Philosophy
I see birth as a small universe unfolding — something sacred, raw, and breathtakingly powerful. Every woman carries within her a deep knowing, an ancient wisdom that doesn't need to be taught, only trusted and gently held.
I believe in the intelligence of the body and I also respect the gift of modern medicine. These two worlds aren't at odds — they're partners. Whether your birth unfolds in a hospital or at home, my role is the same: to create a warm, calm space where you feel free to surrender to the process. Where you can be vulnerable. Where you can be strong.
I won't tell you how to give birth. Instead, I'll hold the space while you discover it yourself. My deepest wish is that when you look back on the day your child arrived, you feel something stir in your chest — not just relief, but pride. A quiet knowing that you did this. Your way.
Hospitals Where I Have Supported Births
Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting mothers in hospitals across the Czech Republic. Every birth is unique, and I adapt my support to work within each hospital's environment while always keeping the mother's wishes at the center.
